About

Watercolour Creations
Although always interested in art, I chose to follow a career in hospitality, eventually running a small hotel and holiday cottage business with my wife.
We now live in the beautiful village of Sewerby, Nr Bridlington, on the Yorkshire Heritage Coast.

Now retired, I spend much of my leisure time pursuing my interest in painting.
Other than a very out of date ART "O” Level, I learnt to paint by attending numerous art classes and workshops.
My sincere thanks go to all those tutors, some local and some nationally known, for their encouragement and generosity in sharing their knowledge.
I have enjoyed painting for over 25 years and although I paint for pleasure, I have exhibited at many local exhibitions, won the occasional award and sold numerous pictures.

Whilst I paint mainly using watercolour, from time to time I dabble using different media including acrylics, charcoal, acrylic ink and coloured pencil.
I like painting a variety of subjects including landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and still life.

I am always on the lookout for something “Different”.
I have experimented with the mind-blowingly difficult art of REVERSE GLASS PAINTING and completed a massive 8ft by 4ft Acrylic painting of Bridlington Old Town.
This was made into a GIANT JIGSAW and exhibited at The ARTWAVES FESTIVAL.

I try not to adopt a particular style of painting in the belief that it should be the subject that determines the approach.
Sometimes I adopt a traditional approach to my painting and other times I try to work more loosely or concentrate on detail.
